Gombe State Chief Judge Leads Judicial Renaissance with Unprecedented Court Renovations

Gombe State, Nigeria – In a landmark move to rejuvenate the state’s judicial infrastructure, the Honourable Chief Judge of Gombe State, Hon Justice Halima S. Mohammed, has on Tuesday 2nd January 2024 embarked on an official tour to commission three newly renovated courts. The esteemed jurist visited Talasse in Balanga LGA, Kwadon in Yamaltu Deba LGA, and Kwami in Kwami LGA, personally overseeing the unveiling of the refurbished Upper Area Court in Talasse, Area Court in Kwadon, and Area Court in Kwami.

This groundbreaking initiative, unprecedented in the history of Gombe State’s judiciary, saw the Chief Judge not only spearheading the renovation projects but also physically visiting these areas to witness the impact firsthand.

The comprehensive renovations of the Upper Area Court in Talasse, Area Court in Kwadon, and Area Court in Kwami reflect the Chief Judge’s commitment to creating a modern and efficient judicial system. These efforts align with international standards, fostering an environment conducive to the seamless administration of justice.

During the commissioning ceremonies, Hon. Justice Halima S. Mohammed expressed her gratitude to the Executive Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his unwavering support to the judiciary. She acknowledged the Governor’s commitment to making funds available and accessible, thereby enabling the successful completion of these vital projects.

The local communities warmly received the Chief Judge, expressing their gratitude for the transformative changes. In their separate remarks, the Bala Waja, the District Head of Talasse, and the District Head of Kwami lauded the Chief Judge for her visionary leadership. They highlighted the historical significance of her direct involvement in the renovation process.

In a notable remark, the District Head of Kwami shared, “The renovated court in Kwami was originally built in 1924, marking its centenary. With the Chief Judge’s dedication, it now looks as if it were built today. This renovation has preserved our history while bringing the court into the modern era.”

Moreover, the District Head of Talasse expressed similar sentiments, praising the Chief Judge for the positive impact on the community, stating that history is made today as the Chief Judge personally commissions the Upper Area Court in Talasse, the first of its kind in the history of Gombe State Judiciary. This unprecedented commitment to justice and the welfare of our community is truly commendable.” He also commended and appreciated the Hon Chief Judge for establishing a new Area Court recently in Wala-Lunguɗa.

The Chief Judge’s actions have set a new standard for judicial engagement in Gombe State, inspiring confidence in the judiciary’s commitment to service and transparency.
