Gombe – In a landmark move aimed at modernizing and enhancing efficiency within the Gombe State High Court, the Honorable Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Halima S. Mohammad has initiated a comprehensive computer training program for all staff members. This seven-week program, declared today amidst great anticipation, signals a pivotal moment in the court’s commitment to embracing technology for the betterment of judicial processes.
The Honorable Chief Judge, in the opening address, articulated the significance of adapting to technological advancements in today’s dynamic world, emphasizing the transformative impact that proficient computer skills can have on the operations of the court. Drawing attention to recent shifts in government practices, such as promotion exams for federal civil servants and police recruitment tests being conducted digitally, the Hon. Chief Judge underscored the necessity for the judiciary to stay abreast of technological developments.
Acknowledging the evolving landscape, the Chief Judge highlighted the pivotal role of computers in expediting legal proceedings and improving access to justice. He cited forthcoming regulations mandating courts to produce trial records within three days post-judgment, emphasizing how computer literacy among staff members will be instrumental in meeting such deadlines efficiently.
The Director of ICT, Bar. Abubakar Abdulkadir Usman, and the Head of the ICT Unit, Mr Shamsuddeen Aminu echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the transformative potential of the training program.
